Finance professionals in the UAE have the opportunity to be agents of change with the implementation of VAT states ACCA.

Dubai – (Masaader News)

ACCA (Association for Chartered Certified Accountants) recognised over 150 members in the UAE who achieved a momentous professional milestone by becoming ACCA members. They were honored at an event held at the Address Dubai Mall on the evening of 19 April which was attended by leading businesses, finance professionals and the corporate community of the UAE.

The individuals who were honored have completed the ACCA qualification by passing all their exams, along with completing three years of practical work experience and the Professional Ethics module. Their commitment to education and providing invaluable insight to further develop the business landscape in the UAE, further enabled them to achieve membership status.

By becoming ACCA members, they are now part of a global professional body with a reputation for driving global standards of professionalism, ethics, integrity and accountability.

Stuart Dunlop, Regional Director of ACCA in MENASA, opened the event, after which the attendees heard from Dr. Mounther H. Barakat, Senior Advisor from the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA); Tom Mtine, Vice President of Internal Audit, flydubai and Hasina Al Adawi from Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA), both of whom are ACCA members.

Lindsay Degouve de Nuncques, head of ACCA Middle East who closed the event said:

“We are delighted to provide formal recognition to our new members in the UAE who are now part of a global network of leading members. By attaining membership status, they can not only go onto leading positions in the UAE, but around the world too – given the reputation and kudos such accolade provides.

With the impending introduction of VAT, ACCA members and finance professionals have the opportunity to truly be agents of change, as they prepare their organisations for this historic fiscal reform.

Professional accountants are more so imperative than ever before, as the region goes through a period of change with the introduction of new policies, indirect tax, diversification and technological shift. ACCA members have a real opportunity to make a significant impact, to ensure the profession, economy and their respective organisations can continue to lead both now and in the future, as a result of implementing and introducing new technology, processes, principles and preparing their organisations for the impending fiscal reform. ”
