The UAE topped the list of Arab countries with the Global Innovation Index for 2017, while it ranked 35th in the world.
The UAE has advanced in a number of areas, notably human capital, research and creative output, according to the results of the index, which was officially launched at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva.
The Global Innovation Index, in its 10th edition of the year, measures the innovative performance of 127 countries and economies, representing 92.5% of the world’s total population and the highest proportion of world gross domestic product.
The Global Innovation Index, based on two main pillars: innovation inputs and innovation outcomes, confirms that the key to achieving improvement is the extent to which innovative inputs can be transformed into an increase in innovation outcomes.
