Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) won 11 international awards and five honourable mentions at the awards ceremony held by the IdeasAmerica Annual Training Summit at the JW Marriott hotel in Las Vegas, USA in August 2018. These awards recognise DEWA as a global leader in innovation and creativity, and support its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
DEWA won four gold awards; one in the Team Idea of the Year category, and three in the Teams and Individuals category: in communication excellence, employee participation 100% as per the target, and executive leader. DEWA also received three silver awards for best programme administrator, performance excellence for total dollars saved, and performance excellence for saving implemented suggestion. Another three bronze awards were also earned in the Team Idea of the Year category and the Teams and Individuals category. The awards also included a Kudos award, and five honourable mentions for the Green Idea of the Year and Teams and Individuals categories.
DEWA held a ceremony at its headquarters to honour the winners of IdeasAmerica 2018 from DEWA’s various sectors and divisions. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his happiness with this great achievement that represents a new global recognition of DEWA’s efforts to instil a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence in government work. This achievement consolidates Dubai’s global position as an innovation hub, supporting the objectives of the National Innovation Strategy, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world. It is also aligned with the Dubai Innovation Strategy, adopted by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world.
