Family Businesses’ Commitment to Evolutionary Growth is Key to their Continuity

Family Business Council – Gulf (FBCG), the regional association of Family Business Network International (FBNi), announced its Annual Summit 2017 to be held under the theme ‘Secrets to Family Business Continuity: Committed to Evolve Over Generations’on 12-13 April 2017 in Dubai.

Held for the third consecutive year, the Summit will bring together regional and international family business leaders, experts and academicians to share family business experiences, principles, and innovative mechanisms that help family businesses evolve to achieve continuity and sustained growth.

The opening gala dinner on April 12thwill feature eakey note on ‘Sustainable Family Success for Tomorrow’s World’ by Dr. John Davis, Founder & Chairman, Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprise.His speech will focus on the importance of proactive ownership and family unity to enable key decisions for business sustainability.

The full day summit on the 13th April will feature several family case studies, plenary discussions, and workshops. Family speakers at the Summit include prominent family business members from across the GCC such as Omar Alghanim, Chief Executive Officer of Alghanim industries in Kuwait; and Hassan Jameel, Deputy President and Vice Chairman of Abdul Lateef Jameel Domestic Operations in Saudi. Other prominent international family businesses speaking include Hans Bonnier from Bonnier Family Group in Sweden and Meral Zaim Inci from the Inci family in Turkey.

Every year the summit attracts top leading GCC family businesses in a private closed-door gathering. FBCG¹s events are exclusive to family-business members and the format of the sessions is designed to encourage open and effective discussions among the participating members. Key family business topics discussed will include family business governance and responsible joint decision-making, board of director’s composition and dynamics, multi-generation innovation and diversification, and creation of scalable social impact among others.

FBCGis a private, non-profit membership organization that aims to strengthen family business governance and ensure their continuity over generations, while learning from and where applicable adopting international best practice. Through research, education and networking among peers, we seek to identify and address issues which are unique to this region.

The Council is governed by a board of directors, representing eleven leading GCC family businesses, which steers and builds the organization. FBCG’s board shares a common view that the continuity and prosperity of family businesses is vital not only for their families’ legacy but also for the economic sustainability of the region.
