Ensan Films founded by journalists Mohamed Fahmy and Yousef Al Hosseini held a press conference in the Four-Season hotel in Cairo on January 3, 2108 to launch their production company. Their new platform is dedicated to producing documentary films and long form investigations is based in Vancouver Canada
The founders announced that their first investigative film is about Qatar’s attempt to hack 1200 emails accounts of public figures from Egypt, the United States, Europe, India, and Arabian Gulf states. All those targeted individuals have been outspoken against Qatar’s politice
During his presentation at the conference Fahmy stated that his team researched the details of the hacking operation for five months. He stressed that this a dangerous conspiracy because it targeted a huge number of people with diverse backgrounds of political influence including Mr. Ahmed Abu Al Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League. A number of high-profile businessmen were also targeted including Egyptian billionaire Mr. Naguib Sweris and American politician and businessman Eliot Broidy
A number of Egyptian football players were targeted as well including Mohamed Al Shenawy, Abdulla Al Saeed, Ahmed Sid, Ahmed Salama, Ayman Refaat, Islam Saleh, Mahmoud Hadi and Mohamed Abdel Fattah
The list also includes a number of American, European, and Arab politicians like Mr. Anwar Gergash, the UAE minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Ahmed Qattan the Saudi minister of African Affairs, and Mr. Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince of Bahrain
The journalists stated that more names will be revealed in the documentary film.
American lawyer Lee Wolosky who represents Mr. Eliott Broidy in a case he lodged in the US in 2018 against Qatar provided a video statement through Skype. Broidy accused Qatar of spying on him by hacking his email and distributing its stolen content to the American press. Wolosoky explained the core of the case and how it threatens the international community. He clarified that the hackers hired by Qatar committed a technical mistake that revealed their IP address which was located in Doha that capital of Qatar
Journalist Yousef Al Hosseini said that this investigation is the first film that documents this case that will surely spark a serious reaction in the US and the European political arena. Al Hosseini added that as filmmakers they expect an aggressive response from Qatar.
“Ensan film only cares about disclosing the truth at any cost and despite any difficulties,” Al Hosseini added
Al Hosseini announced that the company is producing a documentary film about the Pakistani government’s efforts to rehabilitate and de-radicalize members of terrorist groups. The film will focus on the integration of the widows and families of deceased terrorists killed during the clashes with the Pakistani military
Ensan Films has begun a mission to discover young filmmakers in the Arab region. Fahmy announced their new program called “Ensan Ambassadors”
“We intend to train the young filmmakers, and help them produce and sell their films to the most reputable TV stations,” added Fahmy
He added that his team will sponsor the selected Ensan Ambassadors to travel to Canada and participate in commissioned productions. Canadian based Ensan Ambassadors will also travel to the Middle East
“We have signed agreements with Canadian organizations and we plan to provide some finance to develop and produce films, “Fahmy added
Ensan Films announced that five percent of its annual revenue will be donated to aid organizations and non-governmental entities who support refugees and human rights causes
As the press conference came to a closing, the journalists launched an electronic petition published on (Change.Org) against Qatar’s cyber-terrorism. The journalists called on the room filled with journalists and prominent media professionals to sign the petition and announced that they plan to submit the petition to the United Nations, the FIFA and the International Criminal Court
