The prosecution received a report on Al-Bashir regarding the possession of large sums of money without legal justification. The prosecutor confirmed that he would interrogate the former president, who is currently in Cooper prison, for trial later. The Sudanese security forces have found six million euros and more than three hundred thousand dollars and more than five billion Sudanese pounds (equivalent to 113 million dollars) in the house of Omar al-Bashir, the money was confiscated and placed in the Bank of Sudan.
A judicial source in Sudan said that the Public Prosecutor’s Office opened two reports against Omar Al-Bashir on charges of money laundering and possession of large funds without legal justification. The source added that the high prosecutor appointed by the military council to combat corruption ordered the arrest of the former president and questioned him soon in preparation for his trial.
Bashir was transferred Thursday to the prison of Cooper after being under house arrest at his residence since he was ousted from power last week.
