“UAE airports are expected to accommodate more than 160 million passengers, with an increase of 30 to 35 million additional passengers during the conference and exhibition of Expo Dubai 2020″, Saif Al-Suwaidi, Director General of UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), said that to Al-Bayan News.
Al-Suwaidi added also:”Today, we have reached 134 million passengers a year and can add about 30 or 35 million passengers during the Expo period, which marks a new beginning for sustained growth in air traffic, passenger traffic and the overall aviation sector in the country.”
Over the six months from October 2020 to April 2021, Expo will witness more than 25 million visits, 70% of which are from outside the country, and this is the highest proportion of visits from outside the organizer state in the history of Expo.
Al-Suwaidi pointed out that the civil aviation sector is able to cope with the big increase in the number of visitors to the UAE during the period of Expo Dubai 2020 smoothly and without any problems.
