The UAE reported on Wednesday 402 new coronavirus cases, 594 new recoveries, and one death, according to government spokesperson, Dr. Amna al-Shamsi, according to Aarabiya.

The UAE tally now stands at 49,069 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 38,160 recovered patients and 316 fatalities.

The average number of daily new cases detected in the country decreased from 712 cases per day in May to 470 cases per day in June, and the average number of daily recoveries increased from 500 cases in May to 654 in June.

Al-Shamsi said that the UAE has conducted more than 3.5 million tests nationwide.

The Minister of Health Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Owais had said in mid-June that the country exceeded three million coronavirus tests and that the UAE ranked first globally in COVID-19 screening per capita.

Al-Shamsi added: “We still have important steps and procedures that may arise in the upcoming days, depending on circumstances and the health situation. Let’s protect our own safety, the safety of our families, and the safety of older citizens and residents, as well as those suffering from chronic diseases.”

Coronavirus symptoms

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the UAE’s health sector, Dr. Farida al-Hosani said: “While following-up on cases and the health of those infected during the recent past time period, we noticed a variation in the symptoms some coronavirus patients show, and that there has been a difference between some patients.”

She added: “There are some effects and symptoms that the disease leaves behind amongst some of those who recovered, and it differs from one person to the next. Therefore, we would like to stress to the public the importance of avoiding infection in the first place and staying safe by adhering to precautionary measures… because the [coronavirus] disease should not be taken lightly.”
