Head of the National Team Mission Praises Egypt’s Excellent Organization of the World Junior Handball Championship
Dr. Amr El Adl, Head of the Egyptian National Team Mission and Member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Handball Federation, praised the excellent organization of the World Championship, hosted by Cairo until August 17. This demonstrated the unprecedented development of Egypt’s sports infrastructure and its ability to host major tournaments and all international sporting events.
El Adl, who is at the head of the delegation at its residence throughout the World Championship matches to provide the team with all the comfort and focus they need. He said that Egypt’s hosting of the championship comes after having hosted the Wheelchair Handball World Championship and the Men’s Handball Club World Cup (Super Globe) for three consecutive editions. This is the largest club-level tournament in the world, demonstrating Egypt’s leading international position in handball.
El Adl, a member of the Egyptian Handball Federation’s Board of Directors, thanked the Minister of Youth, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, for his dedicated efforts in developing Egyptian sports and his continuous support for all sports federations to advance all individual and team sports. He also thanked the International Handball Federation, headed by Dr. Hassan Moustafa, for its efforts to advance the game, as well as Captain Khaled Fathy, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation, who has extensive experience in handball development and active participation in organizing its events in Egypt. He also thanked Yasser El Ramly, General Coordinator of the World Junior Handball Championship (U-19), emphasizing that these events contribute to Egyptian players of all ages gaining more experience and qualifying them to achieve positive results in major tournaments.
El Adl also thanked United Sports for their significant role in organizing the tournament, headed by Mr. Mohamed Yehia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Sports, and Eng. Seif El Waziri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The head of the junior handball team’s delegation praised the national team’s heroic performance and well-deserved victory over Bahrain, 36-28. He expressed his great confidence in the players’ and coaching staff’s abilities to achieve further victories, delight Egyptian fans, and reach the final rounds of the tournament. He also expressed his confidence in their ability to repeat the achievements of the 2007 and 2011 editions, when the U-19 handball team finished fifth.
He continued, “The large crowd attendance at the opening match is commendable and reflects the growing popularity of handball following the successes achieved by various Egyptian national teams and clubs. Fans flocked from all over Egypt, especially Lower Egypt, to support the Pharaohs in their journey in the World Championship.”
El Adl explained that Egypt is currently reaping the benefits of developing new urban cities that include state-of-the-art sports facilities and stadiums. He emphasized that this has been clearly demonstrated by the hosting of many major sporting events in the Administrative Capital and New Alamein, especially given Egypt’s administrative cadres capable of organizing events with the highest level of professionalism.
